Death has never been a taboo with Wendy and she had told me in the past that she was ‘ready to go’. At ninety six, and a widow of her beloved Tom for a number of years, it didn’t seem like a bad thing to say. It was not selfish.

Recently Wendy has been moved to a care home. Shortly after the move, many of her possessions were put on a table outside her son’s house with the sign, ‘please feel free to take,’ or something along those lines. I took  a tea cup and saucer but then put it back again.
